WeRecycle! E-Waste Collection Event Keeps Over 18,000 Pounds of Used Computers and Potentially Hazardous Components from Landfills.

Baltimore Maryland - On Saturday, August 25, WeReycle! Inc. partnered with HP and the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) to run a FREE Consumer Electronics Recycling event at Montgomery Park, in Baltimore, Maryland that kept more than 9 tons of electronics from going to landfills.

Residents came to the collection event at 1800 Washington Blvd. between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm to drop off their used computers, copiers, fax machines, and other household electronics. HP representatives were on site to answer questions from residents about Hewlett Packard's consumer electronics take back program. Representatives from the MDE came in support of the event and WeRecycle! personnel handed out educational material on recycling and prizes to residents for coming to the event.

HP sponsors these electronics recycling events throughout the United States as part of their commitment to sustainability. HP's electronics recycling programs are designed to minimize electronic waste going to landfills and to help consumers conveniently recycle products in an environmentally responsible way. The event also satisfies HP's requirements for a free computer take-back program as part of Maryland's Statewide Computer Recycling Pilot Program. More information about HP's recycling programs and the Maryland Statewide Computer Recycling Pilot Program is available at www.hp.com/recycle and www.mde.state.md.us/eCycling, respectively.

Baltimore was the second in a series of two HP events in Maryland. The first event in the series was held in Easton, MD. Combined they diverted over 14 tons of electronics from municipal solid waste landfills.

More than 9 tons of material was collected at the Baltimore, Maryland event. To divert the same amount of green house gasses from our atmosphere 80 passenger cars would have to stay off the road for one year, and the amount of energy saved is the same amount it would take to power 113 US households for one year! Great job Baltimore, Maryland!
